The people have spoken. They say: "End the occupation in Iraq and bring our troops home." The Republocrats tune up the orchestra and give us, the gullible people, a song and dance. They have buzz words like: National Security, terrorists, axis of evil, our primary duty is to protect our homeland and other phrases that to this writer are simply worn out. This administration and this government, Republican and Democratic alike are masters of deceit and full of tricks. Now, they are discussing the funding of the Iraq occupation and what our responsibility is to the Iraqi people. Some argue that we must rebuild their schools, their mosques, their utilities, their roadways. After all, we did destroy them so we should rebuild them. Forgotten is the goal of our troops coming home,...and our men and women continue to get killed and maimed whilst our government dances around each issue. Meanwhile, fortunes are being made in Iraq by a select few whilst our citizens suffer at home with high oil prices and high inflation. We, the sheep, sit idly by and cry: "What can we do?" With an attitude of submission we can do nothing. I, on the other hand, am trying to get a block of 250 members of a "select" club of older men to sign a petition against the use of Ethanol made from corn. My arguments are based upon the facts given by Professor David Pimental of Cornell University. I have written to each of my Senators, to my Congressmen, to the Chair of the Dept of Energy in Washington D.C. and to several newspaper editors. The result of which is: nothing. I realized, finally, that one man in the field is not a warrior and more voters are needed to try to make these irresponsible s.o.b.'s listen. I wonder what would happen if each of us went to an organization and organized a petition for their pet peeve with Washington and sent it on. Would we then be heard?
Is it worth a try,? , or should we remain silent???
